I was looking for something that was comprehensive like the Line 6 pods, and this seemed to fit the bill. Somewhat limited, but well worth the low cost (and still mega-versatile) I like it a lot and may buy another for backup purposes! The drum machine function can not be used with the looper! No vocal outputs with this unit, although I did not buy it for this function.Ĭonclusion - You would be hard pressed to find another guitar processor with drum, looper, and preset functions at a comparable price.

I haven't used the Cubase software computer recording application yet.Ī few comments as to shortcomings - Looper would be better with longer than 20 sec duration. Software can be downloaded for visually editing presets on your computer (This I really liked and found to be f ast and efficent). Digitech continues to use their matrix display found in other Digitech products, which looks complex at first, but is rather simple. Has tuning function and expession pedal (defaults mainly to a volume pedal for the presets, but other parameters can be assigned).
If you are starting out, you don't even need an amp, as headphones can be used. Was looking for something I could use for home guitar practice sessions with drum machine, looper, tone effects, and not too expensive, and not too complicated to use.

Read full reviewĭigitech RP355 Guitar Processor - Great for practice sessions! On the other hand, if you're never going to leave your computer screen, and want to do some serious desktop multi-tracking, even Line 6's lower end "pod studio gx" usb interface still sounds a little better and has much more "studio" friendly features. Unlike my Line 6 devices, I was able to use a powered USB hub between the RP and the AMD with complete success! Trying this with Line 6 devices resulted in clean power temporarily, but addressing issues that caused lockups and shutdowns.Īlthough it has its limitations, this is great unit and an overall bargain! When price shopping for similar features and quality construction, this unit steals the show. I had hoped that this unit would have it's own power source since it does use a power supply or batteries, but it too suffers from the AMD USB power issue. Pops and clicks make using them together impossible. I'd practice, and sometimes even gig, with this unit.ĪMD USERS!!!! Athlon 64 X2 QL processors have serious issues with Line 6 devices, in that the usb power is dirty.

The RP was an effort to have similar features in a portable device with foot switches. Personal Note: I was quite content with my Line 6 devices however, they were studio devices, not portable and without foot switches. definately not a serious relpacement for a usb recording interface, especially with no microphone preamps, line in, or bass guitar options. You can lay some tracks, maybe use a plugin or two if you're lucky, and then she starts to have issues. don't expect to run full on 24bit multitrack recording with the included Cubase 4LE. It can be found in the Xedit software, but this means you pretty much have to use this editor everytime you record or play along with your computer. There's also no easy access to the mix between system sounds and processor sound. This makes using recording plugins and processing software like amplitude difficult. You must create a "direct in" preset and level all the settings in order to get close.
Unlike Line 6 devices, there is no "clean" input to the usb interface (even in bypass mode). all of the user presets are tweakable, and with a good ear you can actually dial in the desired tone of much of the equipment represented howev er, tt's a little more difficult to attain the represented tone with the RP when compared with Line 6. Most are crap, just like with any other "multi" processor, but hey. I disagree with people who have said that the presets are wonderful. There's even a halfway decent sounding bass simulator. the looper and drum machine are both top notch! The expression pedal is quite useful for effects and gain. I've also used Line 6 modeling processors for years prior to trying the DigiTech.įirst, this thing has some great features. I've owned tons of the amps and effects modeled in the RP.
